Title: A Great Loss
Post by: Sid Haig on August 10, 2013, 06:08:51 PM
Goodbye, Karen...

Like so many, I am truly feeling the loss of Karen Black.
We didn't work together in House of 1,000 Corpses, but with the many public appearances, screenings and conventions that followed, we became friends.

She was a great presence in so many films, but, I feel, was never really given the full recognition that she deserved for working so hard to please so many. She was a creative force to be reckoned with, in every role she played.

We were once on a flight together as row mates. She was on her way to do a film, and I was on my way to a convention. We talked for the whole four hour trip, and had a great time. Sadly, as is the case in Hollywood, we never did get that lunch we talked about, or call each other.

Please, if you have someone you care about, call them and let them know how important they are to you. It might be your last chance to let them know how you feel.
I didn't do that, and now I am feeling the loss of my friend even more.

My deepest hearfelt condolences go out to her family who will be in my thoughts and prayers.

I'll see you on the other side, Karen.

Your friend and fellow traveler,
Sid
